Chemical Brothers make fresh live announcements | |||
|---|---|---|---|
![]() |
The Chemical Brothers have revealed they will play two nights at London's Roundhouse on May 20 and 21 this year.
The live shows will be the first Tom and Ed have played in over a year and a half. The Chems will also headline this year's Sonar Festival, which takes
place in Barcelona, on June 19. Air and LCD Soundsystem have also been billed for the Spanish festival.
Rumours have been rife since June last year that a new Chemical Brothers album is on the way, after the band's website changed its layout and background image. It was then hinted in January on the duo's blog that a new record was forthcoming, and these new live announcements will surely stoke the rumours more... that and the fact that they spent two weeks in Miloco's Engine Room in the Autumn... Check the band's website for more details on the live shows. Tickets for the Roundhouse gigs go onsale on Friday February 12. www.thechemicalbrothers.com |

Arctic Monkeys earn praise from poet Carole Ann Duffy | |||
![]() |
Arctic Monkeys have been compared to the likes of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan by the famous Scottish
poet, Carole Ann Duffy, who has been admiring Alex Turner's ability to bridge the gap between pop and poetry.
Talking to The Press Association before the Poetry Live for Haiti benefit in Westminster, Duffy said "Leonard Cohen's songs are poems, I saw him twice when he was touring here last year, Bob Dylan writes poems and the Arctic Monkeys write poems. They are great lyric writers." Speaking of Philanthropy, Alex Turner has also recently given away the White Fender Strat he used in the band's very first video, to an online auction setup by Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis and Oxfam, to raise money for the charity. Arctic Monkeys recorded their second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, at Miloco's Garden studio in 2006 with producers Mike Crossey and James Ford. www.arcticmonkeys.com |
