Alberta Cross

They may sound like a jeep-driving, hillside-lounging, golden-skinned and poetically-tongued troop of 1960s Californian folk-rockers, but Peter Ericson-Stakee and Terry Wolfers herald from the foggy urban jungle of East London. It was in the murky watering-holes of the East End where their love of classic blues, soul, folk and rock were merged. The result: Alberta Cross, and their Miloco-made debut LP, The Thief and the Heartbreaker, which was released in April 2007.

Alberta Cross, producer Simon Barny-Barnlacott and Interface's Finn Eiles were in and out of The Square, The Neve and The Garden throughout 2006 and the start of 2007 making The Thief And The Heartbreaker.

# Alberta Cross - 'The Thief And The Heartbreaker'
Alberta Cross are the unlikeliest of East End bands: less of the Shoreditch shades on a dank teenage-English evening of electro-bopping, and more of the warming beards and black top-hats of the Californian folk scene. Ironic or not, The Thief and the Heartbreaker impressively draws on the hippy-folk that flowed gloriously around the LA Canyons in the 1960s.

Interface's Finn Eiles engineered a selection of tracks off Matinee, using Miloco's Square studio for both tracking and mixing. Simon 'Barny' Barnicott produced the album.
