Bloc Party were at first in and out of our Hoxton Square studios in 2004 and early 2005, when they recorded part of the debut album 'Silent Alarm' with producer Paul Epworth and engineer Elliot James. In late 2006 they returned with Elliot to record and mix b-sides at the Garden studios, and work on their second LP A Weekend In The City with Garrett Lee.
And then the big one came...
In 2008, the band of course were reunited with Paul - who this time was working alongside engineer Mark Rankin - to track half of their third LP, the acclaimed Intimacy, which became one of the biggest sellers of the year. The sessions took place in The Pool throughout that summer. The studio was also the setting for Channel 4's Live and Intimate documentary on the band. Scroll down to view clips...

Bloc Party - 'Intimacy'

After a summer which saw this year's best-kept secret explode into arguably the most hyped release of 2008, we can finally enjoy the official release of Bloc Party's fantastic third album, co-produced by Jacknife Lee and Paul Epworth. The Paul Epworth half of Intimacy was tracked in The Pool in the summer of 2008. Engineer Mark Rankin worked on the sessions.

www.blocparty.com/ As the title suggests, the hugely-anticipated follow up to 'Silent Alarm' mainly focuses on many people's favourite pastime, that is going out and altering minds, in this case within the depths of London's bustling East End. And no one tells a party story better than someone whose name includes the word. Taking their melodically euphoric indie rock to a darker level, Bloc Party's second album has all the qualities to make 2007 well-and-truly their year. Bloc Party were in the Garden studios during the summer of 2006 recording strings for the album with producer Garrett Lee.

Bloc Party - "The Prayer"
www.blocparty.com/ The Prayer is the debut single from the excellent new album from Bloc Party 'A Weekend In The City'. The album was recorded at Grouse Lodge in Ireland with producer Garret 'Jacknife' Lee. We recorded the b-sides for the singles at the Garden in 2006 with Eliot James engineering.

It was partially recorded at our Hoxton Square studios in 2004 with producer/engineer Paul Epworth. What a debut album it is. It has been short-listed for the 2005 Mercury Music Awards and is tipped by many to run away with the main prize.

This Channel 4 documentary, broadcast the same week of the release of Bloc Party's third album, Intimacy, saw the band return to the
studio where they tracked half of the record in the summer of 2008, with producer Paul Epworth.
