Malady mutes Maccabees...
Those delightful boys with the improbable Christian names (Felix? Baron Von Tuneful? Orlando? - delete as
applicable) were due back in Miloco this month to continue recording their debut album with Ben Hillier.
However their appointment in The Pool (Miloco 8) was sadly postponed after their drummer came a cropper
on a south coast beach and damaged one of his famed rhythm mitts. We wish him a speedy recovery and would
like to avoid mentioning words like 'Pah!' 'Leppard' and 'Def'. See you soon, gents.

Kings Corner Project success
A few weeks ago, Miloco was proud to host an event on behalf of the Kings Corner Project. Producer Mike
Spencer (Jamiroquai, Oi Va Voi, Kylie, Badmarsh & Shri, Queen, et al) and Unklejam vocalist Tyson led a
session with young people from the group and here's a report from group leader, Liz:
"I just wanted to say what a great day we had on Thursday and thank you so much for letting us use the
studio and for being so accommodating to our group. The young people had a really productive time.
Mike and Tyson provided the group with a backing track, which left the kids free to concentrate on lyrics
and melodies and I was really pleased that each member of the group made a very personal contribution and
clearly felt comfortable enough to do so. With such a small group it was possible for everyone to feature
on the track, which was great.
The relaxed atmosphere meant that the young people did not feel judged as is so often the case and their
behaviour reflected this - there were no incidents at all! Although the kids felt privileged to be there,
they were never made to feel unworthy which means a lot to us. Everyone at Miloco made the group feel
welcome and at home.
Our thanks to you all!
Liz and all at Kings Corner Project."

Badly Drawn Maps
Good news for music fans, bad news for those partial to orienteering: James from Northampton (better known
as Maps) has remixed a Badly Drawn Boy track for his forthcoming single.
The song is called Nothing's Going to Change Your Mind and it's due in the shops from Oct 2nd.
Maps were in our Neve Room with producer Ken Thomas in Sept 06 with Ben Thackeray engineering.

Shhhh, it's The Library tour...
Not only have the rather marvellous Mr Hudson and The Library got a new EP coming out, but they're also
heading out on tour. Around a lot of libraries.
Now the EP is out on 16th October, called The Bread and Roses, and will be available on a limited run of
500 CDs and 7s. It's also a 'unique insight into the eclectic world of Mr Hudson & The Library, [with] a
cross-pollination of hip hop and reggae beats with old fashioned song writing.'
Mr Hudson and his band are also off on an October tour of libraries, as part of a project to encourage
hard-to-reach kids and young adults back into book dens. Details of the dates are on their site.
All of which does of course beg the question, would they be soon be delighting meat packers near you if
they'd decided to be called Mr Hudson and The Abattoir?

Kubichek! check out
Those lovely Kubichek! boys have now finished their Dave Eringa-guided weeks of sessions and departed
Hoxton's The Square studio, debut album in hand. Some words from their own mouths:
"Our debut album will be going away to get mastered sometime soon. It was recorded at Miloco in Hoxton
Square, London, during early August with Dave Eringa, who's now off up to bonny Scotland finishing the
new Idlewild album. The first single off it will be 'Outwards', so expect that in Nov/Dec with a two
week tour."
If you head to their site (or follow the second link) there's also some nice photos of the gents
frolicking in the Hoxton sunshine/studio-of-quality.

The Long and Blonding road...
Self-confessed Jarvis stalkers (they moved to Sheffield in honour of the ex-Pulp man) The Long Blondes
have announced details of a new single, debut album and October tour.
They'll release 'Once And Never Again' through Rough Trade on 23rd October, with debut album 'Someone To
Drive You Home', produced by Steve Mackey, to follow on 6th November.
The band are also heading out on tour in Oct, kicking off in Norwich on 1st October and finishing with a
rousing adopted-hometown fandango at The Foundry (what's wrong with The Leadmill?) on the 29th.

Bravo, Towers of London
Fresh from their Miloco 5-a-side victory, Towers of London will be playing an exclusive London gig on
Tuesday 26th September to promote their new Bravo fly on the wall documentary series.
As cameras of the filming variety were in attendance at the recent 5-a-side competition, many a Miloco
engineer is now understandably nervous that their leg hair may soon be the subject of detailed public
scrutiny. Keep your Bravo-watching eyes peeled (or covered)...

The Blood Arm underwraps

If you missed The Blood Arm's recent Club NME gig in LA, you probably weren't the only ones. Taking
security to intergalactic levels, this is how they announced their sneaky outing:
"Shhhhhhhh..." their website message began, "This message is relayed to you in Secret Code due to the
highly-sensitive nature of the subject matter: The Armblay will be performing a Upersay Secret etsay
TONIGHT (6 September) at Acelandsplay at ten pm sharp!"
Many a Russian U-boat commander is thought to have been scratching his beard in deep puzzlement around
the time this message was broadcast.

Pooch smoocher

Good news (kind of) for the glamorous star of Charlie's Angels, Cameron Diaz, as long term squeeze Justin
Timberlake didn't compare her to a dog. However... he did profess that a young fella named Buckley was the
hunk responsible for the best tonsil hockey he's ever had.
A quote: "The best kiss I ever got was from my [dog]. His name is Buckley, he's a boxer and he's hilarious.
When he kisses you it's like a shower over your face." He then went on to add, rather enigmatically,
"Men are monkeys, man."
Freeform 5 and Pete Hofmann recorded a Justin Timberlake remix in our Never VR Room in Aug 06.
