Farewell Phones...
Paul Epworth lays his not-so-anonymous pseudonym to rest.
15th Oct 08
Our very good friend, producer Paul Epworth, has announced that he will no longer be using his
Phones remix pseudonym, due to the fact
that the brand has become to well-known. The alias emerged triumphantly in 2004 after Paul's acclaimed remix of Bloc Party's 'Banquet', and has been used
on over 30 remixes Paul has prodcued since, ranging from Muse to Santogold.
"Originally, I liked the idea that Phones was anonymous - but these things don't stay quiet for too long..." he told the NME. "I think there was a certain
sound to what I was doing and it was always supposed to be fun and cheap. I think the music scene and I have changed over the past few years."
Paul Epworth has used Miloco's Pool, Engine Room and Musikbox studios frequently over the past few years, producing albums by the likes of Bloc Party,
Kate Nash and Sam Sparro.
