The Engine Room goes SSL Re-introducing one of the Best Mix Rooms in London...

Greetings all! This August we're kicking off our bulletin with some massive news concerning our flagship mix studio, The Engine Room. In July we rescued
the infamous SSL4056 G-Series console from Olympic's Studio 2 and after completely refurbishing it, made it the centrepiece of the Engine Room. The desk has been loaded with 48 mono channels
(36 G EQ and 12 blackface E EQ) and 8 stereo channels making it a flexible mixing tool. The 8 core Intel Pro Tools HD rig offers 24 inputs and 48 outputs and comes maxed out with plug ins running on
Pro Tools 8 or 7.4.
The much celebrated monitoring system consists of customised Munro M4s running off chevin amplification and are regularly checked and calibrated by acoustician
Nick Whitaker. We also offer a wide range of nearfield monitors including Yamaha NS10's, Adam S3A's, Dynaudio BM15s and Genelec 1031's running off a choice of Bryston, Yamaha or Quad amps which we believe
makes it one of the most accurate monitoring environments in London.
The extensive outboard contains many of the toys you'd expect in a world class mix room as well as some great modern additions. In addition to the Massenberg, Tubetech,
EAR, Summit, and Urei names, we have recently added some of the best newcomers, including Empirical Labs, Manley, and EMI Chandler. We also offer some more unusual effects such as the Moog 12 Stage Phaser the
Marshall Time Modulator not to mention an exquisite EMT plate reverb.
The room has a history of delivering hit records including Oasis' What's The Morning Glory and Be Here Now, all the Chemical Brothers albums, Slipknot's 2008
no. 1 U.S. album All Hope Is Gone and more recently the Mercury-nominated Villagers album Becoming A Jackal. It is also a favourite of a variety of producer / mixers including Ben Hillier,
Phill Brown, Colin Richardson, Mike Crossey and Steve Dub.
The large air-conditioned, daylit control room was refurbished in 2009 and has a very clean, minimalistic feel making it a breeze to work in. We don't reside in a trendy
postcode but what we do have is one of the best mixing studios in the world in a creative and vibrant building home to some of the best producers in the UK today... Come and try it for yourself. Hearing is believing!
We will be offering a handful of test days in The Engine Room to new clients. If you are interested in finding out more about this offer please contact the office on 020-7232-0008 or email info@miloco.co.uk.

Mercury Music Prize 2010 3 Miloco-mixed albums nominated for prestigious award...
We're extremely proud to announce that three of the albums nominated for this year's
Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize were mixed at Miloco. Yet again there is a strong contingent of Miloco-made records getting
recognised at the industry's most prestigious award ceremony, and we're thrilled about that!
First up we have the exceptional second album by Foals, Total Life Forever. The Oxfordian
math-rockers returned to Miloco at the end of 2009 to mix the record with the great Alan Moulder in Assault & Battery 1. They had previously
mixed their debut album, Antidotes in The Engine Room. One of the very best debut folk records of 2010 has made the shortlist. Becoming
A Jackal by Villagers was mixed by producer Ben Hillier in The Engine Room in early 2010. Lastly, the fantastic Wild Beasts have deservedly won their place
amongst this year's nominees for their second album, Two Dancers, which was mixed in The Yard in early 2009 by Lex Dromgoole.
Our three clients join a stellar line-up of nominees at this year's ceremony, including Biffy Clyro, I Am Kloot,
Dizzee Rascal, Paul Weller, Corrine Bailey Rae, The XX, Kit Downes Trio, Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons. We wish all the bands and artists
the best of luck on the night of September 7.
