NOW! That's What I Call Miloco 2008!!
What a whirlwind year it's been! We thought this month, before we turn our attentions to all things mistletoe and wine, we should take a quick look back on the key parts of a real landmark year at Miloco Studios... The Trans-Atlantic subprime mortgage market might be a little red-faced after their shennanigans of late, but as far as we're concerned, the music buying public on either side of the pond have done us folks at Miloco proud. In 2008 we have helped produce 15 top ten albums in both the UK and the US. From Alphabeat to Bloc Party, Razorlight to Foals, Trivium to Sam Sparro, our clients have once again stormed the charts around the world this year, and we're immensely proud to have been involved in their individual successes. Congratualtions to you all! It's also been business as usual on the awards front across our client roster. The likes of Kate Nash, Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons ploughed on from last year with success at the Brits and NMEs, Laura Marling and British Sea Power both scooped Mercury Music Prize nominations, Adele and Glasvegas have dominated the newcomers sector, and of course we had the usual triumphants at the Kerrang! Awards: Slipknot, Bullet for My Valentine and Machine Head all adding to their gong collections. Of course away from the media limelight of success and recognition, the Miloco cogs have been turning faster than ever this year. Hopefully, if you've been paying any attention to these monthly newsletters we've been inundating you with for the past few years, you'll need no reminding that we've brought to the recording industry 4 more world-class studios in 2008... El Cortijo - we opened this stunning Spanish residential studio and 5-star villa in collaboration with Trevor Morais in February, providing artists with a private and exclusive haven to take their recording projects Alpha Centauri - we teamed up with Steve Rhodes in June to open his incredible SSL studio as a commerical facility, now standing unrivalled as the UK's best spec'd mix room Assault & Battery 2 - joining forces with top producers Flood and Alan Moulder, we unleashed this beast of a tracking space in August, combining vast space, phenomenal gear, and a truly inspiring atmosphere Fisher Lane - a legendary studio in the heart of the Surrey countryside, now providing that long sought-after luxurious residential service within close distance of London. 2008 also saw our Producer/Engineer Management roster Interface get fully underway, after its formation in late 2007. Representing some of the most exciting young producers and engineers in the industry today, the roster has now been taken under the arm of the fantastic Jo Beckett, who we'd like to give a warm welcome to, and wish all the best for her future work with the guys. (Jo can be contacted on jo@interfaceyourmusic.com, should you wish to enquire after any of our engineers. You can visit their CVs and biogs at www.interfaceyourmusic.com.) So it's been one hell of a year, and one which promises all sorts of exciting prospects for the future. We'd like to thank all of our clients who have joined us at the studios in 2008, look forward to seeing them again soon, and of course hope to see plenty more new faces in 2009. Rest assured, we are raising our virtual champagne flutes and toasting each and every one of you!!
Everlasting Vinyl Dubplates!!"Everlasting Vinyl Dubplates" - We've been using this cheeky little one-liner more and more recently on our trips around the block, and the response has been so encouraging we thought we'd give an official introduction to our latest innovative new service in this month's newsletter, so that no-one misses out on the action... Everlasting Vinyl Dubplates is a brand new vinyl cutting service which we are now offering to clients who come to the studios. This is a rare and unique service, which provides incredible sounding one-off vinyl records which will last forever, unlike usual one-off acetates which quickly deteriorate after a number plays. With the ability to turnaround your vinyl within 1-2 days, clients can quite literally walk away from their Miloco session with their one-off dubplate. We can provide a whole range of different plates. From as little as £16.00 we can produce 7", 10" and 12 " vinyls of astounding quality, knocking the socks off bog-standard CDs usually taken out of the studio by artists... ... but there's a whole load of other great uses for our Everlasting Dubplates besides acting as fantastic mementos. For example, DJs can use the plates to play at all of their gigs, instead of just 10 before the quality disintegrates. Or perhaps record companies looking for a limited run of top-quality promo copies for an affordable fee... Miloco's dubplates have all sorts to offer!! What it costs... The costs vary depending on how many tracks you want to cut. We start prices at £ 16.00 / single-sided 4-minute 7", and increase them in stages up to 12" double-sided albums. Here is a full list of prices: 7" (max 1 track/side) 7" single sided, 4min £16 7" double sided, 4min £20 10" (max 2 tracks/side) 10" single sided, 8min £25 10" double sided, 8min £35 12" MAXI (max 2 tracks/side) 12" single sided, 10min £33 12" double sided, 10min £45 12" EP (max 3 tracks/side) 12" single sided, 15min £47 12" double sided, 15min £70 12" ALBUM (max 5 tracks/side) 12" single sided, 20min £62 12" double sided, 20min £90 Everlasting Vinyl Dubplates is officially up-and-running, so if you think we've just helped you solve your present-buying headache this December, get in touch ASAP to find out more: Call the Miloco office on 020-7232-0008. Should you want to find out more about this very exciting new service, visit the Miloco Resource webpage: www.miloco.co.uk/milocoresource

SE1 Programming Room Available in January!
From the end of January 2009, we have a brilliant programming room based in the main Miloco building in SE1, available for long-term hire. An ideal space for writers, programmers and musicians, the suite is made up of a good-sized control area and small overdub booth, providing plenty of space for you to fill with your own gear. It is located on the ground floor and comes with a red-care alarm system monitored around the clock. The tenant can benefit from 24hr access, wireless broadband, and all of the shared amenitites on offer in the building: rec rooms, kitchen, a pool table, Sky TV, a roof terrace, and bundles of vibe provided by the three other studios and main Miloco office, also located in the building. Brand New Miloco Brochures!
We've tied the bow, so to speak, on all of this year's goings-on by making up some brand new sparkly brochures for all of the Miloco facilities. We're currently in the process of mailing them out by the tonne to all of our beloved clients, so some of you should already have received a pack in the post. If you are yet to, and would like to make sure you are sent the brochures, please email a request to info@miloco.co.uk, and we will ensure you are on our mile-long list of names. To beat the pandemonium apparently experienced at Post Offices the World-over at this time, please send a request in ASAP and we'll do our best to get them to you before the end of the year, that's of course if we succeed in our heist of the Royal Mint, which it now seems is imperative towards postage affordability..!! info@miloco.co.uk
