Welcome all to our monthly digest, and apologies for the antagonising wait for
February's edition. We are fully aware that we're running a little late this month,
but have been extremely busy bees in preparation for the momentous launch of our tenth recording
facility...
We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with legendary
musician and studio owner, Trevor Morais, to work alongside him with the running of his
spectacular residential retreat and studio, El Cortijo.
Located in Andalucia, Southern Spain, this beautiful building is engulfed in the spectacular
mountainside of the Ronda National Park. A short drive from the elegant coastal town of Marbella,
El Cortijo absorbs the sumptuous climates and cultures which attract millions to the South of
Spain every year, whilst however enjoying its own secluded and tranquil spot on the Andalucian
hillside.
El Cortijo offers a creative setting like no other in Europe. The studio boasts an
expansive collection of quality gear, plus a variety of live rooms centred around a Trident
Vector console and a Protools HD3 rig. Combined with the luxurious living spaces and stunning
surroundings, this magnificent studio gives clients the dream option to escape, relax and create.
Record in Paradise...
At the heart of the house is the pristine recording studio where you can of course focus on
your creative projects. This large, light and airy room looks out over the mountains and
beyond to the Mediterranean, making it one of the most inspirational recording spaces you will
ever experience.
Based around a Trident Vector console, the studio provides a variety of live rooms and a
stunning vocal booth providing views of the countryside. There is a loaded HD3 Protools rig
with 24 outputs and plenty of plug-ins. For those wishing to stick to analogue recording there
is a 24 track Studer A820 with Dolby SR. The outboard racks (most of which are attached on
extendable rails) feature a good selection of vintage compressors and EQs, plus all the usual
gates and modern effects processors. There is of course a comprehensive microphone selection.
Continuing our good relationship with FX Rentals, any hire gear clients require can be delivered
to El Cortijo normallly within 24 hours.

Live in Luxury...
El Cortijo is not just a studio, not by a long shot. It is a stunning 7-bedroom villa, which
clients have the sole use of whilst working on their projects. Built by Trevor in the early
1990s, the building's influences lean heavily on the glorious palaces which were built
during the Spanish Renaissance.
This is a 5-star residence - no less - which has been designed to provide maximum space and
comfort throughout. There are several living areas spread across the different levels of the
house, each with their own stunning interiors including beautiful arches, columns and windows,
balconies and terraces, luxurious furniture and valuable paintings.
To the south side of the house are the lovely gardens. Here you can find a variety of secluded
terraces, sunny bathing spots, shaded canopy areas, the fantastic badminton court and of course, at the
foot of the garden, the beautiful 11-metre swimming pool.

Wine and Dine in Style...
El Cortijo clients have the option to enjoy the finest Mediterranean cuisine, cooked by the
the villa's chefs. Evening meals alternate between exquisite
Spanish and French dishes, served to your table. During the day you
can help yourself to snacks and bites, and should you require any food or drink products not
onsite, we'll simply go and buy them for you.

The Local Area
El Cortijo sits just to the North of Marbella and its many glamourous districts.
Malaga and Gibraltar are both roughly
45 minutes drive away from the villa, as are their respective airports. The historic
town of Ronda is located 35km to the North of the villa, and further afield are
a selection of Spain's most cultural cities: Granada, Cadiz and the Andalucian
capital, Seville.
Local attractions to the villa are mostly situated within Marbella. The town
is world-renowned for its elegance, hence is spoiled with countless bars, clubs and restaurants
of the highest quality. There is 27km of coastline in Marbella, split-up into many
beautiful golden beaches where people partake in watersports, swimming and
sunbathing. There are also a number of spectacular golf courses in the town.
Slightly further afield are activities such as whale and dophin watching and clay-pigeon
shooting, as well as many museums and historic sites which celebrate the rich
history and culture of Andalucia. Art enthusiasts may be interested to know that Malaga
was the home of Pablo Picasso, and is therefore a hotspot for museums and galleries of
his life and career.

The Villa's Bedrooms
El Cortijo has 7 gorgeous bedrooms in total which can together sleep up to 15 people.
Each room has been styled individually to give a refreshing variety of character
throughout the house. The rooms enjoy various views from the different sides
of the villa, including the Ronda hills and valleys, the Mediterranean Sea
and even the Moroccan Atlas Mountains on the distant horizon.
The rooms have their own washing facilities, and several boast their own private
balconies and terraces. Spread across the different levels of the house, there are
two garden bedrooms, two suites on the lower-ground floor, a twin room on the ground floor, a room situated on
the lower level of the tower, and one at the top of the tower.

Recent Clients at El Cortijo
Along with the glamourous surroundings of Southern Spain, El Cortijo has
prompted many of the biggest names in the business to check in to indulge in
the luxuries on offer. Some of the more recent artists to have used the villa
and studio are Mariah Carey, Bjork, Manic Street Preachers and
Kylie Minogue, to name
a few, with many more high-profile musicians having experienced this retreat over
the years since it was built.
