Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of you, our good clients. Now that most of you have got over your Christmas hangovers, what better place to spend the new year? A recording studio ! Not just any recording studio mind you. The most musically creative studio group in the UK. Of course those of you that know us, know that we now have eight recording studios and six long-term let rooms. You can find our studios as far North as Kentish Town, in Highbury / Islington, Hoxton, Shoreditch and finally south of the river in SE1.

We can house any project you choose to do. Whether it be pre-production, programming, overdubbing, recording bands, recording string sections or mixing. No project is too small and no project is too big. The rooms vary from having small overdub booths right through to an 1800 square foot goliath tracking room. We have Neve's, an SSL, Protools HD, two inch machines, an armoury of vintage microphones, outboard and analogue synths.

To arrange a tour of one of our studios, or all of our studios call Sophie on 020-7232-0008. Once you have seen what we have to offer you are certain to want to book a room. On top of these fantastic rooms we offer fantastic engineers and assistants. Our engineers have been working with us for many years and many have recorded or mixed top chart-selling records. Combine them with our super efficient assistants and your session is sure to go well.

However, you had better book quick. Sessions are booking up into May and we are taking pencil holds throughout the diary....

Studio Profile: The Toyshop

Each month we give you a chance to catch up and focus on one of our splendid recording studios, after all we have eight ! This month it is the turn of Studio 2 - The Toyshop. The Toyshop is our main programming room which last year had a vast increase in bookings. Based in our Leroy Street building, the room is huge (for a programming room). Some programming rooms you know of may be dark, dingy, small and not the kind of environment you want to spend a 12 hour day. Not this one!

The Toyshop is pure luxury. A large air-conditioned daylit room with vocal booth makes this the perfect environment for writing all your new tracks or for overdubbing. Many of our clients have also mixed tracks in here. The studio comes with the latest protools or logic running on a G5 HD2 Accel rig, monitoring is via NS10's or Genelecs and there is enough outboard and analogue keyboards for all your needs. Add this to the rec room, with pool table and the infamous Miloco sweets and we have all your needs covered.

Some of our recent clients have been Jamie T (who recorded his debut album, which is released this month, in there), Ali Love, The Audio Bullys, Kubb, Sadie Ama, DAVE the drummer, Charlotte Hatherley and many many more. If you would like to take a look round or book the room. Call Sophie on 020-7232-0008. Or for further details go to The Toyshops webpage.

Studio Round-up

It may be January now but our bookings are racing along faster than Stirling Moss around Monaco. December was no exception and we only closed for christmas day and boxing day. With our wonderful xmas offers we invited many new and past clients through the doors who all took advantage of our wonderful recording facilities but at a bargain price.

Miloco One - The Neve Room

The beginning of the month kicked off in our outstanding mix room in the same way as November ended, with those dark flashing lights Black Strobe. They were mixing album tracks with Paul Epworth producing and Al O'Connell engineering. Following them we saw a return from those Block Rockin Beat boys the Chemical Brothers with Steve Dub on engineering duty, who then managed to fit in some more dance floor shakers with the Audio Bully's. As if that wasn't enough our regular Ali Love was mixing some more tracks from his forthcoming album with, surprise surprise Steve Dub and Seggs producing and our own Joe Hirst engineering. In the week before Christmas the Dogs came out from The Garden to spend a week at Leroy street with Steve Musters producing. Finally after the Christmas celebrations Baz Meston from Brighton was back visting our studio and mixing tracks with one of Miloco's top engineers Pete Hofmann.

Upstairs in The Toyshop, we started off with Kubb. who were in writing some tracks with Dave McCracken producing. Shit Disco then popped back for a day with Luke Smith producing and Joe Hirst engineering. While Ali Love was not in the Neve room he was busy preparing the tracks for mixdown. Fabio D'Andrea popped in for a day to work on a track with old friend and producer Howie B and our own Ben Thackeray running the protools. Finally to see the year out we had the return of The Audio Bullys who shook the building to its foundations.

Our own Pete Hofmann was in next, producing newcomers Twins and putting finishing touches down to Freeform Five's forthcoming single "No More Conversations." We then paused for some breath before in came Dave Eringa working on an Idlewild remix followed in quick succession by Ben Onono who stoked up the two inch to record drums. Then followed the fantastically named Strange Death Of Liberal England who were being produced and engineered by Rob Kirwan. We then had a quick day off to eat our turkey and in came Craig Johnston working on some tracks with Ben Thackeray engineering. Last but not least Gillian Glover was in just in time to see in the New Year with producer Tom Wilcox and Ben Thackeray again engineering. Phew what a month!

Mid-way through the month Kish Mauve were back in with Ian Grimble producing. India Beau popped in for a day with engineer Dan Gautreau and then Will Davies returned to record some guitars. After this we took a day swapping our amps on our main monitors, adding a new cross over and making sure it was generally tip-top for the start of 2007. Just before Christmas The Holloways followed on from their Garden session mixing down with Tristan Ivemy. Between Christmas and the New Year Craig Johnston returned to mix his Hoxton Square session with the aid of Matt Foster who then finished off the year with Eddie Worrell.

Some CV action: Matt Foster

Miloco Seven & Eight - Musikbox & The Pool

In our massive recording space The Pool The Horrors returned for a day with Ben Hillier producing and Ferg Peterkin engineering. Ben then began work with Natalie Imbruglia, again with the aid of Ferg. Mid-way through the month The Vitamins appeared with our Mark Rankin engineering. The final session before christmas in the Pool was Adem who was in recording some tracks. Over the Christmas break we had time for a quick appearance by The Bridge Gang and that was 2006 done in the Pool. Musikbox was starting to build up momentum in December with various acts taking advantage of the latest addition to the Miloco group. First in, was Ali Love to spread his music to Kentish Town with Seggs producing and Joe Hirst engineering. The final clients of 2006 in Musikbox were Enjoy Destroy who were overdubbing and recording.

Klaxons - "Golden Skans"

Klaxons prepare their main assault on the charts with the anthemic new single 'Golden Skans'. A hypnotically sweet pop harmony is the backbone of the track, a sweeping, shiny dream of a song that will wipe clear the presumptions of those that think they know and tickle those already in the band's thrall even deeper into their cosmos. 'Golden Skans' is taken from the band's debut album 'Myths Of The Near Future'.

Klaxons were in The Garden in the early part of 2006 with James Ford producing and Jimmy Robertson engineering.

Jarvis Cocker - "Don't Let Him Waste Your Time"

'Don't Let Him Waste Your Time' is an anthemic cautionary tale about men's intransigence within relationships, Jarvis struts through it all telling it like it is: "Some skinny bitch walks by in some hotpants / And he's running out the door".

Jarvis was tracking and mixing the album in The Square, The SSL Room and The Neve VR Room in the summer of 2006 with producer Graham Sutton.
