Outstanding new long-term studio to rent...

Newsflash! We have a fantastic new long-term let opportunity for you all to fight over. Adding to the seven long-term suites we already have, the new room is a beautifully presented creative space benefiting from a chic interior and leisurely lighting. It is based in the trendy Fulham area of West London.

With a 48 input Soundtracs console included, the studio is made up of a well-sized control room and live room, as well as two booths (both accessible from either the live room or control room). As with our other long-term let rooms, the concept is we provide the space, and you bring any equipment you wish to fill it with, only this time you get your own console thrown in with the price!!

Other facilities include a parking space for one car, shared kitchen and air conditioning. The studio is in a secure gated complex, for your peace of mind.

For more information about this excellent long-term studio, get in touch with Vicki at the office on 020-7232-0008. Don't hang around or you'll miss out on a chance to get your hands on a studio of your very own.

Have yourself a merry Milo Christmas!

That time of year is fast approaching. It shall not be long before we give and take, spend and lose, eat and gain, drink and laugh, wake-up and neck five gallons of water before the grandparents arrive, practise the art of giving 'fake thanks' when your long-lost Great Aunt buys you the Timmy Mallet Book of Pranks 07, and all for what... so we wake up on January 1st 2008 with a 48hr hangover and not a penny to our name. Well as far as Miloco are concerned, (most of) the negative points listed above can be easily avoided (you can always subtly remove the gift tags on any suspiciously crap-looking presents so that no-one knows who it's for...).

So at Miloco, we consider the festive period to be one simply of giving, hence each year we take pleasure out of giving a litte back to our loyal clients who have all been such a joy to work with throughout the year. Let's face it, January sales are only any good if you drag yourself out of bed on Boxing Day at 7am, which is why we are bringing ours forward a bit, just for your benefit.

Studio Highlights

Stateside divas, Britpop icons, Cockney Ska legends and Trip-Hop pioneers. It was all go across the studios last month. Here are a few of the highlights from October...

Miloco One - The Engine Room

Fittingly it was British Sea Power who got the coals burning in our flagship Neve mix room last month. They were mixing album tracks with producer/engineer Graham Sutton. We had Danish pop band Alphabeat in for a week, who were working with producer Mike Spencer and Interface engineer Finn Eiles. Check out a profile and interview with Alphabeat here. The Lea Shores finished off the month, and indeed their album with producer Ben Hillier and Interface engineer Ferg Peterkin.

Miloco Two - The Toyshop

Before taking over The Engine Room, The Lea Shores, Ben Hillier and Ferg Peterkin were working away upstairs in The Toyshop. Shower cubicles became temporary recording booths! Ebony Bones had a weekend of tracking demos with Miloco's Darren Lawson engineering and we then had a visit from Shaun King / D.A.V.E. the Drummer. Luigi Masi wrapped up proceedings, laying some overdubs with Interface engineer Matt Foster.

Miloco Three - The Square

Matt Foster was over in Hoxton at the start of October engineering a session with These New Puritans. It was good to see them again. Next came Hatcham Social who were tracking a single with no other than The Horrors' Farris Rotter in the producer's chair. Another rock star-turned-producer in the form of one Johnny Borrell was next; he was producing a Florence and the Machine session with Jonathan Shakhovasky engineering.

Miloco Four - The Garden

East London's greatest tracking room enjoyed its newly-refurbished self in the fine company of The Long Blondes last month. They used the whole of October to track their album with producer Erol Alkan and engineer Jimmy Robertson. We hope to have them back soon.

Miloco Five - The Yard

Up in Islington and Sins were warming up to the October chills early on, mixing a single and b-sides under the engineering guidance of Miloco's James Aparicio, and then veteran rock musician/film score composer/producer Barry Adamson booked up most of what remained. Barry was mixing album tracks with engineer Rob Kirwan.

Miloco Seven - Musikbox

Our Kentish Town mix room picked up October where it had left September, with Spain's Luz Casal continuing work with producer/engineer Darren Allison. The intriguing partnership of Suggs and Audio Bullys' Tom Dinsdale booked out several Musikbox sessions last month, but there was still some time for the great Macy Gray to hop across the pond for a couple of days. Macy was accompanied by producer Nico.

Miloco Eight - The Pool

If The Pool thought it had seen it all this year, it was wrong. Just as it was catching its September breath, the doors flew open again only for four South Yorkshiremen called the Arctic Monkeys to jump through. The Arctic's tracked some material for a week with producer Mike Crossey. A week later, Glaswegian greats Franz Ferdinand rolled up and rung the doorbell. Franz too had a week of tracking with engineer Jimmy Robertson. Capping a truly memorable month in Miloco 8 was the one-and-only Jarvis Cocker, who with producer/former Pulp bandmate Steve Mackey, tracked a single over a couple of days. Miloco's Oli Wright was on engineering duties.

Miloco Nine - Sofa Sound

We finish our round up with a short helicopter ride across London to our Chiswick SSL room, Sofa Sound, the latest studio in the Miloco empire. I Was A Cub Scout continued work with the legendary producer and Sofa Sound owner Hugh Padgham, and then legends in their own right, Bristolian trip-hoppers Portishead booked out a few days. They were accompanied by producer Craig Silvie. Towards the end of the month, the fast-rising Does It Offend You, Yeah? opened their Sofa Sound account with producer/engineer Eliot James...

...which carried us into the penultimate lap of the year like a chivalrous knight. Knees went weak. There's already so much to tell you about in November, but dear friends, you must wait for next month's bulletin for all that. Stay tuned for that little incoming mail alert this time next month!

New Miloco Room Guides

You can now find Miloco guides in each of our studios. Whether you are looking for a historical site to visit on a prolonged break, a takeaway service on a late night of hard graft, or simply a pub to get drunk in, there are featured all sorts of local attractions, amenities, and services specific to each studio's location in London. You can also read about Miloco's rich history as a company, and the details of all our studios and engineers. Please note: it is not compulsory to read these, although we do recommend it.

New online: Ben Hillier's Pool profile

Over the summer we celebrated the first birthday of our beloved live tracking room, The Pool. There were no cakes or birthday beats (far too much expensive gear), although we did give it the gift of an extended profile on its webpage. Sitting down with producer Ben Hillier - the man central to the room's creation - we reflected on the first year of The Pool's life, taking into account the highs, the highs, the more highs, in fact The Pool's been constantly high since Summer 2006!! Follow this link for Ben Hillier's Pool insight.

Garden vocal booth refurbished

In last month's bulletin we told you how we were about to start work on refurbishing The Garden's vocal booth as part of the ongoing Garden revamp. A month later we can inform you that the Garden's vocal booth has been refurbished. Funny that. Click on this link to see the spectacular photos of the refurbished Garden. Even more reason to book some time in there...

Crisis Charity Supergroup get Interfaced!

Those of you who have glanced at the NME's daily blog recently will need no introduction to the Crisis Charity Supergroup. The project has included an all-star line-up who have been collectively constructing a single over the week, to raise money for the Crisis homeless charity fund. Produced by Paul Epworth and engineered by Interface's very own Mark Rankin, the stars popping in and out throughout the week to leave their mark include Graham Coxon, Babyshambles, Paul Weller and Supergrass. The end result we await for with intrigued anticipation, but I'm personally thinking Band Aid '84 minus the dodgy mullets and ribcage-high denim!
