Miloco, Craig Silvey and Matt Johnson introduce... The all-new Vintage Garden Studios

This November is set to go down as momentous one in the life of our classic Shoreditch studio, The Garden.
We have formed a new partnership with producer Craig Silvey and the studio's owner Matt Johnson, and are now proud to re-introduce The Garden as London's very best
vintage band tracking room.
The studio has been completely revitalized after Craig moved in with his phenomenal collection of vintage analogue gear.
It is now centered around a vintage Neve 8026 console - a rare and highly sought-after board dating back to the early 1970s.
The desk is complemented by an in-depth microphone collection, a great collection of external mic amps and EQs, a Studer A80 2"
and of course a top of the range Protools HD3 rig.
This legendary band room still boasts its famous 470 sq ft live space, widely
considered to produce one of the very best drum sounds in London. Bands will have a fantastic
range of backline at their disposal, including many rare and classic keyboards, guitar and bass amps,
plus a fantastic range of recording spaces...

Introducing the Vintage Neve 8026 with 1084, 1076 and 1066 modules...
The Garden is one of London's legendary vintage band rooms. In its 30-year life it has produced major albums by bands such as The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees,
Depeche Mode, Spiritualized and Arctic Monkeys.
The studio consists of a control room, main live space, large dead booth, and a rec room and kitchen. At the heart of the control room is the vintage Neve 8026 40 channel console.
It comes with an incredibly rare 24 channel monitor section, is loaded with 24 mic amps and EQs, and consists of seventeen 1084 modules, six 1076 modules and one 1066 module.
The room's monitoring comprises some fantastic Boxer T2 main monitors, Genelec 1031A's, Yamaha NS10 Studios and Auratones, which are accompanied by Bryston, Chevin and Quad amplifiers.
Craig has enhanced The Garden's outboard spec by adding an amazing collection of vintage modules. New Dynamics include a Urei LA4, Thermionic Culture Pheonix, Eclair LaLa model
62 and a GML 8900. The choice of external Mic Pre's now include two very special vintage Helios Channels, a John Hardy M1, GML 8304, Focusrite Tone Factory, and two Telefunken
V72s. There is also an exceptional array of Reverbs including an Ursa Major Space Station and a Roland R880, and the following effects: an AMS Phaser, Lexicon Super Prime Time,
Mutron Bi Phase and TC 1210 Enhancer.
A large glass divide separates the control room and the 470 sq ft live area. The live room is renowned for delivering big and powerful sounds, and although it has a low ceiling
produces a phenomenal drum sound. Bands will be able utilise an exceptional selection of backline gear when tracking. We've built up an amazing collection of
classic keyboards, amongst them a Valve Wurlitzer and Hammond. There's a Yamaha drum kit on hand for you to make the most out of the studio's drum recording potential.
You'll also find a great choice of guitar and bass amps by Fender, Marshall, Ampeg and Roland.
In addition to the main live space is a dry isolation booth, a selection of amp rooms and even a tiled 'coalbunker' acoustic cellar. So clients are provided with a terrific range of different recording
environments. The studio also has a rec room with Sky TV and Playstation, a computer / internet room, kitchen and bathroom. Up on street level are all the delights of this fashionable
part of the East End which is littered with bars, clubs and restaurants...
Recent clients at the Garden include, Late of the Pier, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Arctic Monkeys, Myles Kane, Spiritualized, Long Blondes, Pete Doherty, Gallows, Ray Dar Vees, XX Teens
and The Futureheads. You can also view a diary of session videos here, and a collection of
session photos here.

A Warm Welcome...
There's a new face in the office this Autumn. Please join us in welcoming to the team Julia Jeory, who has come to work the London studio diary. Julia has previously
spent several years working up in Liverpool at The Motor Museum, but she's now down south to take on the bookings diary for our 10-or-so studios across the capital.
So you now know the first point of call for all your London recording needs... Welcome aboard Julia!
... and a Fond Farewell
Julia's arrival in the office coincides with the departure of Linda Dixon, who sadly leaves us to skip off down under for a year.
We'd like to thank Linda for all her tremendous work running the bookings diary, and wish her all the best in Oz and for the future. Mind the spiders,
and beware of the jellyfish! x (ps. you still owe Rich a boomerang...)
In the Lap of the Gongs!
So our sumptuous Santorini residential Black Rock is ending its first year in the commercial studio world with an award
recognising its sheer brilliance, and we're very excitied about that! Readers of Audio Pro voted Black Rock, which we opened alongside
Kostas Kalimeris back in February, as the best newcomer at the magazine's 2009 awards. So thanks to those who voted for the award, and let's make sure
we build on it further in 2010 - call Tor on 020-7232-0008 for all Black Rock info.
