Studio Highlights
It was business as usual across the rooms in September. All corners of the city were bursting with Miloco studio activity, and here's a few of the highlights.
We very much enjoyed the company of Razorlight and producer Mike Crossey last month, as they wrapped up mixing the forthcoming Slipway Fires album at our flagship Engine Room in SE1. We can't wait to have a listen come November! Upstairs, Steve Dub and Segs were grafting away as usual in The Toyshop, producing the forthcoming debut album by Kid British, with Miloco engineer Laurence Aldridge. The troop moved downstairs into The Engine Room towards the end of the month. The Pool was star-mingling as always, firstly with those Glaswegian giants Travis, and then with Bloc Party, who were filming a documentary in the same studio where they tracked new album, Intimacy.
Northbound across the Thames, our East London hubs were too having a wail. The Garden welcomed Fryars at the start of the month. The band were tracking material with producer Luke Smith and Interface's Ferg Peterkin. Following them came the return of Late of the Pier, who were back in Shoreditch with producer Erol Alkan and engineer Jimmy Robertson. Round the corner at Hoxton Square, September enjoyed the company of Jamie T, MIA and the ever-so lovely Natalie Imbruglia. Nice to see them all back at Miloco!
The North London contingency was having a jam-packed month as well. Our Highbury SSL room The Yard hosted all sorts of sessions, including Out From Animals who were working with producer James Lewis, Suzerain who were back at the studio working with producer Steve Lyon, and The Pepys who were in the fine company of Interface engineer Iain Gore. Our Kentish Town Neve room, Musikbox, opened the doors several times throughout the month to trance act Face2Face, who were accompanied by Interface engineer Pete Hofmann. The Fratelis popped by with Interface's Finn Eiles, as did Musikbox owner DJ Pete Heller who used a good week to work in his fine studio!
Lastly to our West London heavyweights. The Battery building was working around the clock, as The Hours indeed worked all hours in both Assault & Battery 2 and Alpha Centauri, with Flood and engineer Dan Austin. Further South in Chiswick, Stereophonics were back at Sofa Sound with Jim Lowe, and producer Mike Spencer also headed West to sample the delights of Hugh Padgham's SSL haven ...! ... and that was the month that was. Another massive thanks to all who came our way last month, we sincerely hope you enjoyed our company as much as we enjoyed yours. Until another day...
