At Miloco we believe all of our studios are extremely well priced. We are also confident we have some of the best rooms at the best prices. No doubt you will at times be able to find cheaper studios than Miloco but we price our studios according to the services we offer and if we go below those prices we will compromise the smooth running of the facility.

Types of Bookings
We generally book by the month, week or day. We can, subject to availability, do half days (upto 6 hours). The minimum booking we will do is 3 hours. To guarantee single days you have to pay our book rate. If you can be flexible with your booking (I.E. be prepared to move from the specified day or move to another studio we can offer you the 'flexi-rate' (see below). We also offer an All-Inclusive rate, an unsigned rate and a self-catering rate (see below for details). For day bookings our days are 12 hours. We commence the day from the start time given to us. So if you tell us 10am and then turn up at 12pm, you will be charged from 10am. For ongoing sessions please let the assistant or engineer know what time you would like to start the following day. Overtime kicks in after 12 hours and is charged by the hour at the hourly rate. Please check your confirmation for the overtime rate. Overtime is not transferable so if you do an 8 hour day the first day and a 14 hour day the second day you will still be charged for 2 hours overtime. You can however negotiate a lockout day (see below).
What the rates include
All of our studios rates cover 12 hour days (unless specified), except our residential studios which usually operate on 24 hour days. If sessions run over 12 hours, overtime
will be charged by the hour (see below for overtime rates). Alternatively you can book the studio on a lockout rate.
All the prices exclude VAT which is chargeable at 20%.
The rates include an assistant (unless stated) but not an engineer. You can hire one of our engineers on top of the rate. Occasionally if budget is a real issue you can hire one of
our studios without an assistant and just have an engineer.
All prices exclude tapes/materials, cabs and hire costs.
If a session finishes after 11pm we charge a cab fare for the staff to get home. Please be aware that if you finish at 10.30 and there is a lot of clearing up to do there could
still be a charge for a cab. To avoid cab fares we recommend you do a 10am to 10pm day.
The rates include the equipment shown on the equipment specification but as you can imagine the gear does break from time to time. If we cannot replace the gear we cannot offer a
discount on the rate. Of course in the unlikely scenario that a major breakdown happens during the session (such as the console / tape machine) we shall discuss the time lost.
Any equipment that is 'subject to availability' on the individual room specifications, needs to be requested prior to the session. This is especially important for guitar amps and
backline, which regularly move around the studios. If this equipment is not currently located at the studio you have requested there may be a charge to deliver it there.
If you need to use 2" tape we now need 72 hours notice prior to the start of the session. In this digital age unfortunately our tape machines are not used as much, so we like to get
them prepared for your tape session, which takes time.
If you wish to run the 2" with a 16-track headblock there will be a setup charge of £100.00. This service is available in some of our rooms - call for details.
Piano tuning is charged from £ 75.00 / call out. We would always recommend that you have the piano tuned prior to using it.
Contrary to some rumours concocted by our competitors tea and coffee is free throughout the day and we may throw in the odd sweet or two if you are good.
Day Rate
This is the official day rate of the studio. If you pay the day Rate for a room we can guarantee you use of the studio for the day. For bookings under 5 days we can offer the 5-day rate but only if you can be flexible with the days booked. This helps us juggle small sessions in the event a large booking wants the same time. We can confirm reduced rate sessions up to 72 hours prior to the start of the session. If you cannot be flexible with the dates and need a particular studio on a particular day we recommend that you pay the published day rate as this can be confirmed when you are ready to confirm.
Lockout Rate
Our Lockout rate is as you can imagine the rate to guarantee a 24 hour day (depending on your start time). This means you pay that extra amount to not worry about clock watching. The only thing we do ask is that sessions have to finish by 6 am so we can freshen the studio up, wake the assistant and clean the place ready for the next session.
5 day Rate
We offer a flexi-rate on all of our rooms for bookings under 5 days. This is a cheaper rate you can book the studio for, but we can only confirm the session 72 hours prior to the start of the session. This allows us to be flexible when a large 7 day booking comes in which needs the same time which you may be holding for one day. In the event this occurs we will either offer you another room (which may sometimes be an upgrade) or we shall ask you to reschedule or you can always pay the Book Rate. If the booking is over 5 consecutive days you can confirm the Flexi-Rate of the studio at any time.
Self-Catering Rate
To help some people on a budget we can offer a 'self-catering rate' this is a rate which does not include an assistant, but you have to use one of our engineers. If the engineer is an external engineer who we consider a friend of Miloco, we will allow them (subject to our discretion and guidelines) to run the session without one of our assistants. The engineer is then fully responsible for the upkeep of the studio.
Unsigned Rate (Book It Now)
If you are an unsigned band / artist we may be able to offer you our unsigned rate. Please note if you are Radiohead who may not technically need a record deal we do not consider you unsigned! The unsigned rate is only for bands that do not have professional representation and are not signed. If clients bring their own engineer, or pay for one of Miloco's full-rate engineers, then the studio rate will include an assistant. Otherwise, for an additional charge to the studio rate you can choose to have one of our younger engineers without an assistant. The 'Book It Now' unsigned rate will allow you to confirm the session in advance. All Unsigned rate bookings require payment prior to the session starting and valid credit card details will be needed at the time of confirming the session.
Unsigned Rate (Flexi Rate)
If you are a band / artist and are unsigned we may be able to offer you our unsigned rate. Please note if you are Radiohead who may not technically need a record deal we do not consider you unsigned! If a full paying project wants the same time we shall either ask you to pay the 'Book It Now' rate, or upgrade you to another studio if we have one free. If no other studios are free and you don't updgrade to the 'Buy It Now' rate, we will ask you to change your dates.
