Brighton Recording Studios

With its creative culture and energetic live music scene, the famous UK seaside town of Brighton has long been a hub for bands and musicians to both live and make great records in. Miloco are proud to be a part of this vibrant musical city by providing a selection of the Brighton recording studios.

All of our Brighton studios focus offer something different, from modern, state-of-the-art facilities to vintage studios with rare, esoteric equipment ensuring there's all sorts of options for clients to choose from.

The Ironworks:

The Ironworks is run in partnership with producer Mike Pelanconi. It was designed by ex Olympic Studios tech Mike Craig, with the aim to combine a West Coast style control and live room combination with a spec that blends vintage and modern gear. The studio's large live area has been especially optimised for drum recording due to Mike's specialist work on the Drumdrops sample library. The sonics of the live space can achieve anything from dry sounds to huge 60s ambience; this special range of acoustic capabilities has become a hige attraction for many different artists including UNKLE, Nick Cave, Manu Chao, White Denim, Mafia & Fluxy and many more.

The control room is based around a 1970s custom 28 Channel Vintage BBC Class A console, monitoring by Tannoy Golds and Yamaha NS10s, and the incredible Ampex 16 track 2" tape machine, one of classic American multitracks. Your tunes are guaranteed to sound incredible.

Black Wookie Studios:

Black Wookie Studios has been set up to provide a great environment for tracking, mixing and mastering projects. Based outside Brighton towards its neighbouring town of Worthing, Black Wookie's location enjoys this charming coastal stretch of South England.

The studio benefits from having a spacious control and live room that have been beautifully designed to not only sound fantastic but also provide a relaxed and creative working environment. Highlights on the equipment spec include a vintage Amek Angela console, Pro Tools HD system, powerful monitoring and large selections of outboard and microphones. Its live room was built to provide maximum versatility. It has natural stone panels which help create huge drum sounds, but the ambience can also be baffled down for more controlled results.

The Park Studios:

The Park Studios is the third Brighton recording studio to join Miloco. It is a beautifully designed, centrally located yet affordable studio benefiting from a double height live space capable of excellent acoustics. The equipment spec is built around an Amek Media 51 Console with onboard Neve preamps and EQ, Pro Tools HD and Apogee converters, Genelec and Yamaha monitoring along with fantastic choices of backline and outboard equipment.

The Toy Rooms Studios:

The Toy Rooms is the home of Unkle producers Pablo Clements and James Griffith. This Brighton & Hove recording studio is home to a vast collection of vintage analogue synths and other great pieces of equipment including many guitars, drums and FX. The Toy Rooms is a fantastic vintage recording studio for bands to use, and offered at a very affordable price.

The studio is spread out across 3000 square feet providing an abundance of creative space. The control room houses a vintage 60 channel Calrec Console Q-Series and the enormous collection of synths. There is also an excellent selection of vintage outboard. It looks through into a large live space blessed with some tremendous backline and microphones. There is also a small programming room.

The Toy Rooms is already a firm favourite amongst bands and artists recording in Brighton. It is a regular choice for Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Unkle themselves, plus many other acts.
