The studio concept was to bring together a classic West Coast-style control and live room combo with a modern spec, and was designed and built by Mike Craig, an ex-tech from Olympic Studios. The room was originally set up to record Mike's Drumdrops sample library; the large live space was optimised for drum recordings ranging from dry sounds to huge 60s ambience. However it soon became apparent that a studio had been created with a very special range of acoustics that could do so much more. Word got out and in the first six months in came Manu Chao, Unkle, Nick Cave, Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club, White Denim, Little Roy, Mafia & Fluxy and more.

The control room is a chilled space to work in, and has been treated to provide the ultimate mix environment with a flat even frequency response. It is based around a 1970s custom 28 Channel Vintage BBC Class A console, with monitoring provided by Tannoy Golds and Yamaha NS10's. Recording is done on an Ampex M1200 16 track 2" - the ultimate American multitrack guaranteeing phat and fierce results.
