El Cortijo - 'Record in Paradise'

"It is a simply fantastic place to take a project. The studio, the surroundings and the Mediterranean culture all contribute to making it one of the most enjoyable places I have ever worked in" - Markus Dravs (Producer)

El Cortijo - The Studio's Live Rooms

El Cortijo's dynamic live areas are split into a main live room, two sound locks suitable for amp recording, a vocal booth and drum room which Trevor has expertly designed to produce fantastic drum results. Here are some images of the various recording areas and some brief outlines on each of their attributes.

The Main Live Room

The main live area is a bright recording space both visually as well as acoustically. 3 of the walls are plaster and one is acoustically controlled. There is also the option of screens to control the room when required.

The Booths

The soundlocks between the live areas and control room provide two great spaces for either bass or guitar amps but at the same time are ideally suited for recording vocals or any other acoustic instruments. By taking advantage of the booths the studio offers five discreet recording areas whilst maintaining visual contact.

The Vocal Booth

At the front of the control room is the main vocal booth. Benefiting from floor to ceiling glass walls looking out to the mediterranean this has to be one of the most inspirational recording spaces in the world, but at the same time drawing the curtains can make it feel both warm and homely.

The Drum Room

Trevor Morais has spent many years perfecting the acoustics to get a great drum sound . The overhead baffles are easily moveable to brighten the sound and with the live area opened out there is the choice of both a live sound and great ambient miking options.
