The Bridge Refurb (July 8 - )
After completing the new control room in June, we broke for a few weeks before moving through to the live room, to start work on what will be re-opened as The Bridge. The blog for Phase 2 kicks off on Day 3...
Wednesday 8th July
Day 3 of Bridge refurb: Someone has clearly been wielding a sledge hammer early in the week. There's a nice pile of rubble on the floor...

Day 4 of Bridge refurb: Amidst the chaos are signs of some wall structures...

Day 9 of Bridge refurb: Well there's more wall that's for sure. See how the separate compartments within the live room are starting to evolve...
Wednesday 15th July
Day 10 of Bridge refurb: Considerable progess - the guys have ploughed on with the building of the three separate recording areas...
Friday 17th July
Day 12 of Bridge refurb: Plaster board is now present - a touch of paint and of course a bit of wiring and we'll be well on our way....
Monday 20th July
Day 15 of Bridge refurb: Where we're at after the weekend. There's more of that lovely rockwool stockpiled, and more plaster put in the walls...
Wednesday 22nd July
Day 17 of Bridge refurb: The guys have cleared the main live room of debris and worktops, so we can get a shot of the main liveroom with the booths at the back. Whilst on the subject of booths, they now have doors hanging!!
Monday 27th July
So much to do but we're making strides. The floor is being laid in the main live room, and painting continues across the walls...
Tuesday 28th July
The walls were so white today it felt as if we were floating in a cloud! Of course this is the undercoat, we eagerly await what the men with brushes have in store for us tomorrow...
Wednesday 29th July
The lads were painting away happily again this afternoon. This morning they attached the frame for the panels to the ceiling of the main live room, and there's plenty more carpentry going on besides that. We'll wait to see the results tomorrow...
Thursday 30th July
Believe it or not there's a photoshoot in here tomorrow. But things will be done and dusted. The carpets have been laid in the booths and the lights are hanging and in use. Carve carve carve...
The Engine Room Refurb (June 11 - 22)
The major summer refurbishment program in The Engine Room began on Wednesday 10th June. Unfortunately that day we weren't quick enough of the mark with the camera, so this picture diary, which is accompanied by the designated "Tweet" of that day, starts on day 2...
Thursday 11th June
second day of refurb in The Engine Room. What a glorious mess. Spoken to the guys - it's all "Clad Clad Clad". Going well .... !!
Friday 12th June
Day 3 of Engine Room refurb: Mickey and Kenny are still cladding, whilst Louis is sanding. Suppliers on the phone frequently. It's all go!
Monday 15th June
It's day 6 of refurb. The magenta theme is coming along very well...
Tuesday 16th June
Day 7. Fabric everywhere and the sliding doors are no more. The new vibe is really taking shape.
Wednesday 17th June
They started the new wall yesterday afternoon... and continued today...
And through in the control room the ceiling is making progress. Heavy panels were lifted back into place!
Thursday 18th June
We awoke on Day 9 to see more plaster being put up. Today's a big one. There's a session on Monday and the painters are in tomorrow...
... on the other side of the new wall, there's something starting to resemble an incredible new-look Engine Room...
Sunday 21st June
We were back on Sunday with feather dusters and bulging muscles to scrub up the Engine Room for Monday's session. The new walls had a spiffing coat of paint, and the control room had been gifted a plasma screen and some touches of black on the walls...
Monday 22nd June
... and lastly on Monday morning Declan and Rhys did a few last checks on the desk and racks ready for Aeroplane's arrival later that day...
