Where to Stay?

There is a good and varied selection of hotels near The Square, from the top end splendour of The Great Eastern at Liverpool Street and the wonderful new Hotel St Gregory, to places a little further down the scale like Holiday Inn Express and its cronies. A selection is as follows:

Loitering at the luxurious end of the scale the Andaz Liverpool Street boasts: widescreen TV, ergonomic workstations with dataports, queen and king-sized beds, swanky furnishings, a DVD library and host of other quality amenities. Their website's suitably flashy but not that easy to navigate, while it's currently unclear whether or not your clothes have to match the decor (see photo). Approximately 20 minutes walk.

Formerly the renowned 'Hotel Saint Gregory', 100 Shoreditch High Street now comes in the form of a 4-star Crown Plaza. A six-minute walk exactly (!) from London's Liverpool Street station, this high-standard hotel is brilliantly positioned for the bustling East End, Miloco's Square and Garden studios, and inner-city and National Rail train connections.

A new venture from the Pret A Manger empire, the hotel is said to be "where urban living meets country lodge lounging." They boast "roaring fires and cool cocktails, Frette linen and flat screen TV's." There's a great bar and restaurant too and, rather fabulously, "amazing cheap rates."

A little further a field but claiming to offer best value quality accommodation from an all too tempting 30 quid per night. The rooms range from studios to executive suites, there's a restaurant and bar, conference facilities, satellite telly, et al, and the Whitechapel Art Gallery, Petticoat Lane market and the Barbican are all near by. Approximately half an hour walk.

Quiet and secluded and with easy access to City/West End. They offer room-only or bed & breakfast, have TV in every room and they welcome both short & long term stays. Special weekend rates are available, it's much further afield but the accommodation is cheap.

A family run guest house in a quiet and leafy road with a 3 diamond quality approval from the English Tourism Council. The guest house is centrally heated and completely non-smoking. If you're visiting us in the summer and wrestling with a particularly pesky budget, then these student halls are available for B&B from mid-June to mid-September. Close to Victoria Park, there's a selection of single rooms and continental breakfast is included in the price. There's a shared lounge, satellite TV, a video recorder and table-tennis table.
