Musikbox Information

A short walk from Kentish Town tube station, Musikbox is on Highgate Road, slightly past The Forum music venue on the left hand side of the road. The studio is in Linton House, but is accessed round the back of the building. If you turn into the road prior to Linton House you will see some metal gates on your right. During the day they are unlocked and you walk through them to the last door on the right hand side. At night it is best to call the studio to gain access. |

In February 2007, we replaced the ageing Harrison console previously occupying
the room with a pristine condition Neve VR60, and teamed it up with supreme sounding
ATC monitors. With Pete Heller's vast collection of analogue synthesizers
supplementing the console and monitoring, Musikbox has become a magical studio
to work in, perfect for mixing, track-laying, overdubbing and writing.Ê
The entrance to the studio takes you into a kitchen/lounge area, which although in a basement has a wonderful chic interior and natural daylight. Inside you will find Sky TV, broadband internet access and a modern kitchen area. The studio is so well designed that it feels like you are walking into someone's flat ! (a posh one). |

From the recreation area you pass up some stairs into the first of two booths. This booth leads directly into the control room or if you turn right you find yourself in the main booth. The main booth is large enough to fit a drum kit while the smaller one is perfect for guitar amps or vocalists. The main booth has direct line of site with the control room. |

The control room is perfectly shaped making the monitoring astonishing. No expense has been spared in the look of the room and to the rear of the control room there is natural daylight. The newly installed Neve VR60 (56 loaded) is situated towards the awesome sounding ATC SCM300A's. To the right of the desk is the main booth and to the left and rear are the racks. The room has a well-selected choice of equipment including a Lexicon 480L, AMS 1580S, Urei compressors, a GML 8200 and a pair of neve 33122 EQs. On top of this there is a vast array of analogue keyboards. All of these combine to make this an amazing mix room and a fantastic working environment. |
