Sofa Sound Information

Sofa Sound studio is a short walk from Turnham Green tube station in West London. Formerly known as Stanley House, this outstanding SSL mix room is now owned by one of the all-time great British producers, Hugh Padgham and we are privileged to be asked to run it on his behalf. The studio is based in a charismatic Edwardian Warehouse and is built to the highest specification. There is free parking on the road outside, and the fantastic bars, cafes and restaraunts of Chiswick High Road are a just short walk away. |

Sofa Sound is situated on the building's first floor and consists of a large daylit control room and a good sized live room with two adjoining booths. The control
room is very light and airy, and further benefits from outstanding Quested monitoring. In the heart of the room is a SSL G+ series console with 62 mono, 4 stereo channels and
'E' EQs, in pristine condition.
The FX rack is located behind the console and contains all the usual suspects, plus a good selection of fantastic vintage mic amps, equalisers and compressors including a rack of vintage Neve EQs. The top of the rackspace can be used to locate additional gear. Behind the FX rack are two additional work areas with internet station and a comfortable sofa. |

Located in front of the control room is the live space, and to the right of the live space is the machine room. The machine room contains the fully specified protools rig (with Apogee convertors) and 2" machine which helps keep control room noise to a minimum. The live space is large enough to comfortably fit a 5-piece band and consists of a main live area with an upright Yamaha piano, and two adjoining booths which both fit a drum kit. The studio boasts a good selection of microphones, so combined with the amazing mic amps you are guaranteed a fantastic sound. As does all of Miloco's studios, we believe this studio thrives on a combination of modern digital recording techniques and vintage analogue equipment. |

We try to keep the control room in top condition and therefore ask that eating is restricted to the large recreation space on the floor above. With the new laws, the building is now no-smoking. For those in need of a gasp there is a fantastic roof terrace providing views across West London. The recreation area is a spacious room with a pool table, table football, Sky TV, a kitchen preparation area and places to eat. All in all we believe you will be hard pushed to find such an outstanding mix room in West London. |
