Red Kite Studios is owned by producer/engineer Martin Levan and booked through Miloco. It is arguably the pinnacle of Wales recording studios, offering a beautiful and secluded location, excellent studio facilities and equipment as well as peaceful accommodation in the depths of the stunning Welsh countryside. Based on the edge of the vast Brecon Beacons National Park in central Wales and enjoying the spectacular views this expanse of wilderness provides, Red Kite is a truly inspiring place for bands and artists to work in.
Red Kite Studio Wales is meticulously crafted using oak and maple extensively to push the quality of sound produced to the sheer maximum. There is a clean line of visibility between the control room and live area due to a glass wall and sliding glass doors. Both rooms have high, gabled ceilings with oak beams and an abundance of daylight, together creating an organic and warm feel both acoustically and aesthetically.
Red Kite's large selection of microphones is one of the key highlights to its impressive spec. Stand out models include a number of Neumanns, including a vintage Neumann U47 Valve as well as numerous Sennheiser mic's. The studio operates an Otari Status console with Total Recall and Moving Fader Automation, which is joined by some very special custom-made monitors, Pro Tools HD and a good choice of outboard.
Sessions at Red Kite have the skills and experience of Martin Levan readily available to them. Martin's background includes engineering credits for John Martyn, Iron Maiden, Ralph McTell and Andrew Lloyd Webber to name a few. He has also worked extensively in Sound Design, and has earned worldwide acclaim for his groundbreaking work on productions such as Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Starlight Express and Sunset Boulevard. His wealth of recording experience is guaranteed to make any artist feel at home during their session.
